Ok, let's see here... 3.8L I assume.. Got the three individual coils or just the one coil pack...> (Magnavox) type?.. When you removed the harmonic balancer to change crank sensor, were the reluctor ring fins on the back of it good and straight? ..That's what signals the crank sensor.

3.8 has three coils and has the delco ignighter. harmonic balancer fins are straight and the air gap is correct. Have power to the sensor and good ground. no signal back. Where to look next? Thanks for your input.

Check wiring from ignition module (you call igniter) down to crank sensor... Have seen some chaffing on those wires from time to time, however I have a lift to hoist vehicle! Using paper clip...any flash codes in ECM?... C.E.L. come on with key on?.... *TESTED* fuses?

Thanks for your response! Have checked for open in circuit from icm to sensor. none found. sensor harness has three wires
one has 12 volts one has 5 volts and the center must be the signal which I think is the ground. it rings out that way. has check engine light when key is turned to on but no codes( I have a reader) fuses are all good. if I have power to the icm power to the sensor and a good ground back what am I missing?

This is a very reliable ignition system!.. You very well may have an ECM problem.. However you will need a diagnostic flow chart and schematic with pin-out information... I don't have that available here.. Someone with Alldata or Mitchell On Demand will have that or for a fee you can get it online @ www.alldadadiy.com ... I suppose the new ICM is ok..? There is no way you got three bad coils!!

thanks for your response. I went and got another icm today and tried that with no success. I think I will see if I can come up with a ecm for that year and try that. I'll let you know.
