No heat

(1999 Pontiac Montana)
the heater is not workin, there is a burning smell coming from under the hood. the van is running sluggish and there is water getting in the oil. there is smoke coming out of the back end that smells awful. Is it time to push this van to a junk yard or can it be fixed?

To be more specific- If this van is in poor condition to begin with, ask yourself- do I want to sink serious cash to rebuild/replace the engine? If the van is in excellent condition (body/interior/mechanicals other than engine) it may be worth your time to invest in a few more years with this vehicle.
