On October 28, 2010, Nissan recalled 747,480 Nissan Xterra. Nissan is recalling certain model year 2004-2006 armada, titan, infiniti qx56 and model year 2005-2006 frontier, pathfinder and xterra vehicles. the intelligent power distribution module (ipdm) assembly contains an engine control module (ecm) relay that has a diode for electrical current noise reduction. the ecm relay may allow silicon vapor to form and, over time, the silicon evaporates from the diode molding which causes silicon oxide to develop on the ecm relay contact due to arcing.

Nissan is recalling certain 2004 - 2010 Titan, Armada, & QX56 vehicles. Also included are 2005 - 2010 Frontier, Xterra, and Pathfinder vehicles for faulty front and/or rear lower control arms in the vehicle's suspension systems. According to the automaker, the problem lies in the control arm's attaching point to the vehicle's chassis. These are called "Cylindrical Collars" and they are welded to the control arm. During the manufacturing process, some collars may contain welds that do not meet Nissan's strength specifications, resulting in the collars possibly separating from the control arm/s. Should this happen, the vehicle handling might possibly diminish to the degree that a crash could occur.

Owners are advised to call their local dealer with their vehicle's VIN number and dealers will conduct a database search to determine if the vehicle is involved in this recall from Nissan. A problem with the fuel tank may cause the gas gauge never to read below a quarter tank of gas even when the tank might be empty. If the vehicle runs out of gas in traffic, you might become stranded or get into an accident.

The air bag system uses "crash" sensors that monitor the vehicle and detect an impact that requires air bag deployment. Some of these sensors are located in the front of the vehicle. The front crash zone sensor is located in an area that can build up with road salt and debris. This can cause corrosion to build up around the front crash sensors, and cause an interruption of electrical signal. If this happens, your air bag light will come on and the air bag system will not operate in a collision.
