On October 2, 2012, Nissan recalled 2,417 Nissan Pathfinder. Nissan is recalling certain model year 2012 frontier, pathfinder, and xterra two-wheel drive vehicles manufactured from june 19, 2012, through july 12, 2012. these vehicles may have been equipped with front wheel hubs that may not meet the design hardness specifications. a wheel hub that was manufactured below hardness specification may wear prematurely and eventually crack.

Certain vehicles are being recalled because one or both of the front wheel bearing hub assemblies may wear prematurely and eventually crack.

Nissan will notify owners of affected vehicles beginning October 8, 2012. If you notice an abnormal noise from the front wheels, or you don't receive notification and you feel you should have, please contact your dealer. It’s helpful to have your vehicle identification number (VIN) handy when you call.

An engine oil leak may develop from the area of the engine oil cooler and oil filter. This could result in loss of engine oil pressure and severe engine damage.
