Need help diagnosing if this behavior can be caused by a belt.

(1999 Ford Windstar)
While accelerating the van will make a squelling sound and the van loses power. The motor doesn't die but it feels like it disconnects from the transmission. (( I'm not mechanic )) and will grab a gear a moment after it slips regardless of how much rpms it's burning at. Appreciate the help in advance guys.

Sounds like transmission is slipping. Check the fluid level to start.
