My timing belt on my 06 kia sportage broke while driving, is there any other damages I need to look for?

(2006 Kia Sportage)
Was driving and heard a loud noise and was told by my mechanic that the timing belt broke but nothing else. Does this mean if I replace the belt I am good or should I check for other issues?

On some engines the valves can hit the pistons and bend. I'm going to assume he checked for that. Some engines it's not possible for them to touch. If that's the case and the valves are not damaged then you could replace the belt and be ok.
