My rear axle seal is leaking. Do I have to remove rear to pull axle?

(1999 Ford F-350 Super Duty)
In order to pull the axles to replace a seal do I have to remove rear?

no. if you have a full floating axle, then the axle pulls out after removing the 8 bolts are removed at the wheel. if not a floating axle, you have to remove the cover, spider shaft and c clips to remove the axle.
