My low coolant light is on Would that make the service engine soon light come on

(2000 Chevrolet Monte Carlo)
A few days ago my car stopped having steering capabilities. Upon opening the hood I noticed that the belt powering the alternator was moving very slow and the light on the dash showed the red battery indicator. The mechanic replaced the harmonic balancer and a belt. It runs great the battery light went off however the service engine soon light did not. I know that I have a faulty low coolant light that has to be repaired would that make the service engine light stay on because I see no indications of any other problems?

I will do that but upon further inspection I think that I know the problem. It was the service vehicle light that was on and that evening after I posted this my turn signal bulb went out. I replaced the bulb but the service vehicle soon light did stay on. Do you still think I should get the code read? I didn't realize that there were two different service lights one meant for body one meant for mechanicals.

OK I went to Auto Zone and they read the code Under The service vehicle soon codes they didn't see anything the only thing that it was saying is that I may have low tire pressure, but why wouldn't the low tire pressure light come on rather than the service vehicle soon? Now I am more confused than ever please advise. By the way this website is awesome I am recommending it to all of my friends. Gratefully Yours KC

only one obd2 port on your car to read check engine light.you may have a light for maintenance required or service required.all that is for is to let you know it's time to change the oil.also on the newer cars, maybe yours too, if you have the tpms system for the air pressure in your tires, the spare has to have the correct pressure in it also.what exactly do the 2 lights say when they light up?and do they have symbols?they will light up by turning the key to on,not start.and do you have an owners manual?

Ok I have a faulty low coolant light because I'm not ever low on coolant and it stays on. Besides that one the service vehicle soon light comes on. On my car if there is something wrong mechanical the check engine light comes on. If it's something pertaining to the body of the car itself the service vehicle soon light comes on. I had to recently replace my turn signal bulbs which would make it come on. But after the bulbs were replaced shouldn't it go off? Or is that something that the mechanic has to do? If it isn't then perhaps I have another problem. Upon reading the code the only problem they found was that a tire had low pressure. But I have a specific light for that that says Low tire pressure not service vehicle soon.

turn signal bulb out has nothing to do with the check engine light coming on,low coolant sensor does.replace the low coolant level sensor!turn the key to run,not start, push the gas pedal to the floor 3 times within 10 seconds, turn key off.then restart the car, light should now be off.
