My ignition wont turn back and shut off

I have to use a pencil to make my ignition turn back.

Most likely a fault with the shifter is casing the problem with your 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix. There is a micro switch in the shifter that sends power to a solenoid which will allow the key to turn to the lock position. A broken wire neat the shifter is also a possibility.
