My gas pedal got stuck and had to turn car off and now won't run. Could there be a sensor or something that protects the motor or is it shot??

(2004 Acura TL)
I just got the car home from buying, and was sitting in the car revved up the motor and the pedal got stuck under the floor mat, and I had to turn the car off to get it to stop. Car no longer runs. It barely hits 2 rpms.

No. It just won't run very well... it has no lights on, and dies if I let off the gas...

First .. throw that floor mat away! .. *Get the right one from the dealer or don't use one at all* .. That's what the big fiasco with Toyota's unwanted acceleration was all about, WRONG drivers side floor mat! .. This vehicle is equipped with throttle by wire system, it's possible it has lost correlation (communication) between the accelerator pedal and the throttle body on the engine ... Reply for repair info........ Well now.. After waiting.. No reply .. Seems I'm just wasting my time here... Must not have liked the comments about the 'more important' floor mat issue... OK, Adios!

*If you have the security code numbers for the radio*... Try unhooking the battery NEGATIVE CABLE for about 5 minutes.. That MIGHT help ..Otherwise it needs to be tested with a real scanner to check sensor communication..and other parameters.. Good luck!

Yes I do have that, and I did throw away the floor mat. It was for the tl but it was in backwords and it is gone now... thanks so much. I did just notice that my boot going from my throttle body into my air box is ripped in several places. Could it have torn that.

Ok, that's another story.. There can be NO leaks in that "boot," AT ALL!.. That needs to be addressed first.. Can use duct tape for a temporary repair.. However you may still have othar issues.. I've got to go for now but will check back this PM. Let me know what's up.

OK yeah it helped but still not right... thanks.

Remember.. NO LEAKS AT ALL .. Make sure it's sealed!

I'm just gonna get it new. So what do I try to do next??

Got to install new air tube first.. Then see how it runs.. Can remove the air tube from throttle body and watch throttle plate while helper pushes gas pedal down with key ON.. plate should response 'smoothly' to all gas pedal movements from closed to wide open then closed again.. EVERY TIME! .. Do not try to move throttle p!ate by hand.. T-Body damage may result!! .. One more question, is the engine making any unusual noises now while it IS running?
