Have you taken the car back to the shop that performed the work? They should check this out for you if you just had a tune-up.

Hello,
Sorry you are having such a difficult time with this problem. What I would do is talk to the owner or manager of the shop that performed the tune-up and replaced the EGR Valve. Explain what is happening, and how you don't trust them anymore, and see if they are willing to help you out. If they are not, then you will need to take it to another shop. Depending on what that shop finds, you may have a case for action against the other shop.
Your state has some specific laws regarding automotive repair, you can see that info here: http://www.michigan.gov/sos/0,1607,7-127-1585_11459-33494--,00.html
Read this info carefully and see make sure to be armed with as much info as you can when you go talk to this shop. Document everything they tell you, and if they work on your car, have them document everything they do, including any tests they perform and the results.
