My brakes are mushy is this normal for saabs?

(1999 Saab 9-5)

There are rust spots on the rotors. it has around 148k miles

try bleeding them 1st and look for fluid leaks while you there

Mushy brakes are not normal for any cars. If you have rust spots on the rotors that could contribute to the mushy brake pedal. There is most likely something that caused the rust i.e. bad caliper, hose hardware, rear brakes not working correctly, etc. Make sure you repair the cause of the rusting rotors, replace the pads and rotors with quality parts.
