Without access to a scan tool you will have to do it the hard way. This sounds like a fuel air ratio issue created by a sensor that has shifted off value but not far enough off to set a failure code so start there. First try disconnecting the MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor. This will force the ECU to recognize a failed MAF sensor and run in open loop mode. Not good for extended operation but OK to test. If the engine now runs and can accelerate you have found the problem. If not, reconnect the MAF sensor and repeat the process for the Oxygen Sensor. Other things that may create this problem is a failed throttle position sensor or a plugged catalytic convertor. Note; stop and restart the engine between connecting and disconnecting each sensor tested. After completion of testing and repairs you may need to have the failure codes you created by testing reset in the ECU. you can probably have this done at the place you buy the repair parts.
