My 2012 Kia Rio automatic transmission will not change gears. What can it be?

(2012 Kia Rio)
It will not go into 2nd gear. Could it be the transmission fluid. Can it be changed, checked or more added í nd how hard is it. Also about how much should it cÆ¡st. I was told the transmission may need to be replaced. How much should that cost. Thank you for your help.

Cost of services questions should be directed to local shops to get a "real world" estimate. RepairPal's information can offer "ranges" for many services, but your actual local research will yield you more valid information. I don't mean to be pessimistic, but when you have a lack of shifting, some pretty serious things are occurring. First, you always need to check to ensure your fluid is clean and full. If it is, it's likely a costly internal failure. A good diagnosis including that of electronic controls is in order.
