I find myself on my own, the ex left me his car, took my truck, and I just want to make sure I keep my driving costs down. I will be moving from So Cal to Kansas, lots of driving in my future. The car makes all kind of noises, need brakes, rides bumpy, ERP message on, needs A & B service, many small oil spots under parking spot in garage. Repair OR buy an economical Honda type car? No car payment vs payment on the econo car. Thanks for your help.

The Mercedes C240 is a great car if properly maintained. But when neglected, can be very expensive to repair and service. If the car has not had proper maintenance done on schedule and you are experiencing the above mentioned problems; its most likely time to get rid of the car. I would need to diagnose and know exactly what is wrong with the car to properly answer it, but sounds like you might be better off with an economy car monthly payment instead of a steady stream of expensive repairs to the mercedes.

Hope that this helps.
