Had the Check Engine Light come on or had it been coming on? Have you had any intermitant stalling or starting problems.? Take off the distributor cap see if there is a lot of oil in the distributor, common failure requiring the distributor replacement, (sensors in distributor also fail).
It is pointless for me to speculate, the spark plug, spark plug wires, coil and circuitry need to be investigated to find the true problem that has caused your car to fail.
