My 1990 f150 4.9 liter shut off a mile from home and would not restart

It would turn over fine just would not fire.

Have you checked to see if the INERTIA SWITCH has tripped to the off position?

(Inertia switch = Fuel Pump Cut Off Switch)

It may just need to be re-set.

Start by checking fuel pressure. The pump may have died.
