Hello, my car currently has tires that are P185/65/R14. I was wondering just how important it is when replacing them to get the same size. For instance would it be ok to put 175/65/R14 tires on? Thank you for your time, and knowledge.

I do know that my car is supposed to have P185/65/R14 tires, however, my question is: can I put 175/65/R14 tires on with out comprising the safety and performance of the car. I have good tires that size, and it would help my budget quite a bit to be able to use them. Again, thank you for your time.

The tires you want to install are shorter and narrower than the stock tires You will have to take them to a tire shop and see if they will install them as some tire shops have a standard size they will install and won't install anything but the specified size for liability reasons, I suggest you call a few tire shops and see what they think.
