On June 23, 2016, Mitsubishi recalled 174,382 Mitsubishi Lancer. Mitsubishi motors north america, inc. (mmna) is recalling certain model year 2002-2007 lancer, 2004 lancer wagon, 2003-2006 lancer evolution, 2003-2006 outlander and 2007-2013 outlander v-6 vehicles originally sold in, or ever registered in, connecticut, delaware, illinois, indiana, iowa, kentucky, maine, maryland, massachusetts, michigan, minnesota, missouri, new hampshire, new jersey, new york, ohio, pennsylvania, rhode island, vermont, virginia, west virginia, wisconsin and the district of columbia. in the affected vehicles, the front lower control arms may detach due to the front cross member corroding from salt water exposure such as from road salt use.

The front suspension lower control arms may corrode excessively in areas where there is a higher concentration of salt water exposure, such as from use of road salt. This could cause the arms to separate from the vehicle frame, resulting in loss of vehicle control.

Recalls on your Mitsubishi must be performed by a Mitsubishi dealership. Mitsubishi will notify known owners of affected vehicles (a timetable of this notification is unavailable as of the time of this writing). If you do receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Mitsubishi dealerships. They will also check for any other uncompleted recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with.
