Mitsubishi i-MiEV Recall 13V031000
Power Assist of the Brakes May Fail
The braking performance may be reduced due to a failed brake system vacuum pump.
As of this writing, Mitsubishi has not yet determined a notification schedule for this recall but if you are experiencing braking problems, or you don't receive notification and you feel you should have, please contact your dealer. It's helpful to have your vehicle identification number (VIN) when you call. The Mitsubishi recall number is SR-13-001.
All modern braking systems use some type power assist. These vehicles use a vacuum pump to provide power assist to the braking system and some of these vacuum pumps can fail prematurely, causing reduced braking performance. This can result in increased stopping distances and therefore increasing the risk of a crash. Mitsubishi dealers will replace the effected vacuum pumps to correct this concern.

Mitsubishi Motors North America is recalling certain model year 2012 i-MiEV electric vehicles manufactured December 2, 2011, through September 7, 2012. The brake system vacuum pump may fail, causing the vacuum pump to be inoperable.
If the vaccum pump system fails, it will reduce available brake power which would result in lengthened stopping distances, which may increase the risk of a vehicle crash.
Mitsubishi will notify owners, and dealers will replace the affected vacuum pumps free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule. Owners may contact Mitsubishi at 1-888-648-7820.
