MAP Sensor

(1991 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera)
I have a service engine light on. The engine reves and idles really high and if you sit to long it quits then acts like it flooded when you try to start it. If you let it sit about 5 minutes it will restart again. But does the same thing.

If it sits long enough it will run like normal for about 15 minutes and then starts acting up again.

I was told at Auto Zone the problem was the MAF sensor so I changed it and it still doing the same thing. Now they are telling me its the MAP sensor. Need some real advice here.

Thanks
Art

first of all, get a real diag, free diags at autozone only lead you in a direction, they do not define the problem. that why a real diag costs what it does.
most cars have either a mass air flow or a map but not both.

It sounds like it might be your fuel pump and/ or filter but check fuel pressure before replacing. Easy to check with a gauge from a schrader valve on the fuel rail.
