you have to use a scan tool and shut it off thru the computer

You'll need to use a DRBII or Snap-On equivalent scan tool, set up for your specific year, to turn off the Maintenance Required reminder light...same for Check Engine/Malfunction Indicator Light/Lamp. I know this as I had to do so on my own 1991 Jeep Cherokee Laredo 4.0L while at Renton Technical College in their Automotive Technology Program. I happen to also have the Snap-On scan tool, which I had to purchase used via E-Bay, as the unit is no longer available new.
