My car starts fine when cold. After it warms up though,it shuts off abruptly and will not start for some time.Been told it may be a sensor.Where is the sensor located?

There is more than one sensor on your 1990 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera that can cause the engine to stall and not restart. The most common would be the crankshaft position sensor and the mass air flow sensor. The engine control computer could also cause the engine to stall. One more item to consider. The torque converter clutch can stick and cause the engine to stall, generally after extended freeway driving - 20 minutes or more - the engine will restart and stall again when put in gear. A bit more description regarding when the engine stalls and what happens when you try and restart would be helpful in giving a better answer.
