Q: Low fuel mileage. Gets worst when pulling on 2000 Dodge Ram 2500

My 2000 Dodge Diesel 2500 4x4, started using alot of fuel. I use to get 20 to 23 mile to gallon. 18 pulling. About 7 years ago it started using alot of fuel. Getting 15. And 10 pulling. Its been in the shop 3 times for this and I was told it was fixed. I have put $8000.00 in that motor and it is still the same. Could you please help with answers. Thanks ga

Not easy question to ever anwser...many times its really no anwser. So many variables...driving habits change...diesel fuel fomulas have changed (low sulfur additives), just as gasoline has with the addition of ethonol etc. Folks change tire sizes and then the oidometer reads mileage differantly and changes gear ratios. Common things I check are is the coolant running temps, transmission operation to make sure its going into overdrive, check for draging brak issues, wheel alignment, and fuel system operation issues just to name a few.
This is a Stander transmssion. I did have a new cluch put in about about 7 years ago. I know about very 2 years I have to put new rotors and breaks on my truck. I just don't understand it got great mileage up until then. Well it's not the tires, temp is good, I make sure I always put it in overdrive, wheels are aligned. I want to fix my truck. I can say I love my truck. Thanks for your help. ga
