Losing Power

(1999 Ford Windstar)
On an uphill my van loses it's power, however when on flat road or down hill it seems fine. Then engine light starts flashing the second I started climbing and I am not sure what to do? Any suggestions?

The Check Engine light will be the clue in resolving the problem, The computer in your car has retained in its memory what it sees as a problem if the Check Engine light has come on. A scan tool is required to extract the codes. Loss of power on a hill/under load could be a restricted exhaust/ blocked catalytic converter, a lack of correct fuel pressure or volume or many other possible causes.
