Ford motor company (ford) is recalling certain 2016-2017 ford edge and lincoln mkx vehicles and 2017 lincoln continental vehicles. in the event of a crash, the driver's frontal air bag may not fully inflate or the air bag cushion may detach from the air bag module. as such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard (fmvss) number 208, "occupant crash protection."

The driver's frontal air bag may not fully inflate in a crash. Additionally, the air bag cushion may detach from the air bag module. Both instances would prevent proper protection of occupants in an accident, and would increase risk of injury.

Recall repairs on your Ford or Lincoln must be performed by a Ford or Lincoln dealership. Ford will notify known owners of affected vehicles beginning in March 2017. If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Ford or Lincoln dealerships. They will also check for any other incomplete recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with. The Ford recall number is 17C02.
