Q: Left Axle Seal Leak on 1998 Mazda 626

Rookie cbe0621eac06868b3efe0d8d1d3611e23c60d3114864ea2ec19a68cfbd3eebab
Hello, I recently took my car into a shop and found out I had a Trans Pan Gasket (leak), Left Axle seal (leak), Rear Struts (leak) and a few other minor things that needed fixed. I'm just curious, what if I don't get those things fixed, will it ruin my car?

I wouldn't say that those things will ruin you car, but if enough trans fluid leaks out the transmission will fail (you could keep checking and adding to evaluate how much fluid you are actually losing). Same with the struts, except you can't add to them (you need to see if the struts are still working, for safety's sake). Of course, it's all a matter of degree. No car is free of the tendency to develop leaks, but the severity and consequences are the determining factors as to how, when and if you want to address them. Some technicians are looking for work and will pick apart a car to find something to fix for a buck, and some are sincerely interested in your welfare. You may want to find another shop to give you an opinion and show you the leaks and help you evaluate the situation.
