Knocking sound when driving

(1990 Ford Bronco)
in Apple Valley, CA on March 23, 2010
Bronco has been parked for 3 years trying to get it running. Fixed brakes, power steering unit, transmission gasket and filter, replaced spark plugs, and finally drove it on the road and there is knocking sound, does not happen when in park or the vehicle isn't moving. Any ideas?

Your engine may have to be under a load. Or you have a suspension problem. Engine knocking can mean an overhaul. $$$ But B4 you get into that check to make sure your shocks and bushings etc are in good shape and not loose. I have a bolt not tightened on my 79 right now that sounds like a frightening engine knock. Its just a shock bolt with a loose nut. Anything loose on the chassis can make some scary noises
