The hydraulic electronic control unit (HECU) may be improperly sealed allowing water to get onto the HECU circuit board. This can result in corrosion build up and a fire hazard from a short circuit.
Recall repairs on your Kia must be performed by a Kia dealership. Kia will notify known owners of affected vehicles beginning in November, 2016. Kia is recalling these vehicles because the stop light switch can fail resulting in loss of brake light operation and may experience other electrical concerns.
Kia will begin notifying owners of affected vehicles during May 2013. If you are experiencing problems with the brake lights, cruise control, gear shifter, push button start, or Electronic Stability Control (ESC) system system, or if you don't receive recall notification and you feel you should have, please contact your dealer.
