Im almost positive my jetta has a blown head gasket and the when I put it in reverse it pops out of gear and grinds. The exterior only has two dents but I am usure whether to repair the car, sell as is, junk it, or sell it piece by piece. The blue book value is about $1900 needing repairs, but I am unsure if it would be worth it to pay the cost of repairs. Also if I sold it "as is" I am usure what asking price should be.

The asking price will be anything that you can get, as your car needs engine work and transmission work, so you may only get a few hundred, like $300-400. If the Transmission works ok in the other gears, you may think(?) about fixing your car, if it has less than 150k, because, $1900 does not buy much these days, except another car that needs repairs. Make SURE that the head gasket is bad, how did you come to this conclusion? I have worked on a lot of VW 2.0 Jetta
motors and they don't often blow their head gaskets, at least in my experience.
