its code 1811, slipping transmission, usually happens after you drive a long time then pressure builds up and does a long shift which is the jerking, i just bought my car and its already in the transmission shop to be rebuilt. You can call a buick dealer like I did and they can explain the code in more detail.
Are there any codes stored in the powertrain control module? Codes stored may help isolate the cause of your problem. It sounds very much like an electrical issue being that the fault will go away after cycling the ignition. If there are no fault codes stored then it may be necessary to have a technician test drive with a scan tool in order to try and see if something is out of spec when the problem occurs.
Did you ever find out what the problem is with your Buick. I have a 2000 Buick Century doing the same thing. It jerks into gear some of the time but if I turn the car off and restart it the jerking goes away. My car has been to the shop twice and they have fixed everything they could think of but my car is still jerking. It didn't do it for two weeks after "being fixed" but I just went up to the store right around the corner and its started again.
check catalytic converter I have 03 regal did same thing finaly figured out it was bad catalytic converter
I'm having the very same issue. It may start when Im in stop and go traffic. It stops after I turn the car off. The car goes days and some times weeks without doing the jerky thing. I have had the catalytic converter replaced and it is still doing it. I will say that on occassion the lighting behind the temperature and fuel gauges go out. Also, the radio lighting goes off then on and the station changes. The jerking does not happen when the lighting goes out. So not sure if they are related. Any answers on what's going on?
