Jeep Grand Cherokee 2009 tail light don't work when running

(2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee)
Tail light driver side works for both turn signal and brake but only in accessory mode. As soon as I start the car, it doesn't light up for either brake or turn signal. Passenger side works both ways.
What seems to make the problem better or worse? Turn the car off
How long have you had this problem? 2 weeks

The ONLY thing that changes is ignition switch position - that is highly unlikely the failure.

No diy repair advice here.
