It back fires threw the intake, what causes that

(1994 Chevrolet Cavalier)

replaces the coil pack wires plugs and it backfires when started and switching gears , wont stay started acts like it wants to stall out

Did this happen after your changed the wires and coil? If so you got a plug wire or wires in the wrong order. You need to go back and re check the firing order, and be sure they are on tight. If it was like that before you repaired, then sounds like timing is off or intake valve problem.
