Is there a sensor or control valve on the outside of trans. for torque converter

(1999 Ford Escort)
it runs irradiatic ribs up at stops and wont idle sown
What seems to make the problem better or worse? it has irradiatic idle think torque converter wont digage

I don't think this has anything to do with a torque converter. If engine rpm is increasing for no reason you want to look for vaccum leaks first. Then throttle position sensor or throttle body issues.
