Is the shift selector sensor and the shift solenoid the same thing?

(1999 Ford Windstar)
in San Antonio, TX on February 29, 2012
I was told I needed a shift selector sensor and was told by the autostore personel that I need a shift solenoid. I asked him about the shift selector sensor and was told he had never heard of that particular part.

No, one is the shift interlock solenoid and the other is the transmission position sensor. Two different parts. Can't tell you anything else because you didn't say what the issue is??
