Q: Is a revving speedometer and transmission issues related? Speedo revs in park. on 2005 Chrysler Pacifica

Is a revving speedometer related to transmission issues? I am now on my second transmission for this car (second one replaced just two months after the first one!). Prior to replacing the transmission, the speedometer was revving up to 10-20 mph while in park or sitting at a stop. The car would also sometimes act like it want to "surge" forward even though my foot was on the brake. It would drop into gear with a thunk when I put it into gear. There were no engine lights to indicate anything was wrong. I am still having the same speedometer revving issue, and now, two months later, the transmission has gone again. Any idea what is going on??

I had pretty much same exact problem. The difference is my check engine light came on. I had same revving and thunking when dropping into next gear while sitting at a stop. Mechanic first replaced an output read sensor. Still having issues. End result was that the alternator was bad and sending signals causing computer reads to be off. new alternator stopped the revving. the thunking was due to broken motor mounts. actually i had the thunking noise a couple of years back when a different motor mount had broken.
