Intrument lights in the DRL

(2004 Chevrolet Express 3500)
in Sacramento, CA on February 10, 2009
Dear Sirs:

Thank you for your help but my owners manual states:

Daytime Running Lamps (DRL) Turn the control to this position to select DRL.

When the vehicle is shifted out of park ( P ) , the instrument panel lamps will illuminate and the DRL will trun on unless the defeat position is used. An indicator lamp on the instrument panel will light when the DRL are on.

Will this help solve my problem.

Thanks Bill La Grassa

Nothing like a confict between the service information and the information in the owner's manual. Here is a thought - the IP lights are coming on but because of the ambiant light you can't tell there on. My only other thought is that there is an internal fault with the Body Control Module or the IP cluster. Another idea before spending to much time on this is to find a simular van and see how the lights work. There could be an error in the owners manual.
