what would cause a compression loss after replacement of intake gasket the car ran befor now it sounds like theres no compression kinda like the starter is winding out but my belt is turning so i think the motor is turning.what could be the problem

I just had the same problem with my '99 Malibu. We soaked it with starting fluid(while trying to crank it over as well) it should start, mine did. It will probbably run like crap for a few minutes when you first get it started, just let it run. good luck.

On the 3.1L V6 the intake push rods are longer than the exhaust. If you swapped them you bent some valves
