2013 Infiniti JX35 Recalls
In certain vehicles the hood release cable may have been installed incorrectly, as a result the latch may not fully engage, leaving the secondary latch in the open position with the hood is closed. If the primary hood latch is released and the secondary latch fails while driving the hood could open unexpectedly, blocking the driver's vision and increasing the risk of a crash. To correct this concern dealers will modify the angle of the hood release mechanism to provide additional length to the release cable.
The airbag system uses a sensor in the front passenger seat to detect if the seat is occupied by an adult. The affected vehicles are being recalled because this sensor, part of the occupant classification system (OCS), may incorrectly identify the passenger seat as empty when it is actually occupied by an adult. When the passenger seat is determined to be empty, the passenger airbag is disabled. Failure of the passenger airbag to properly deploy when necessary would increase the risk of injury to someone seated in the passenger seat in the event of an accident. Dealers will update the OCS software to correct this concern.
These vehicles are being recalled because a software concern with the antilock brake system (ABS) could cause the brake system to perform less efficiently than expected during light brake pedal application on rough roads. The resulting increased stopping distance would increase the risk of a crash. Dealers will reprogram the ABS to correct this concern.
The brake caliper holds the brake pads in the proper position and squeezes them against the brake rotor when the brakes are applied. These Pathfinder and JX vehicles are being recalled because the one or both of the front brake caliper assemblies may have been manufactured incorrectly. These calipers can crack, causing it to move and contact the inside of the wheel. Dealers will inspect the affected parts and replace them as necessary.
Due to an assembly issue, the fuel transfer tube may be misrouted inside the fuel tank. As a result, the fuel level float may be prevented from dropping as the fuel is consumed and the fuel guage may read a fuel level higher than actually exists. If the fuel gauge does not accurately show when the tank is becoming empty, the vehicle may run out of gas unexpectedly, stalling, and increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will inspect and re-route the fuel transfer tube and install a new O-ring to correct this concern.
