Ignition switch

(1999 Pontiac Grand Am)
in Mount Pleasant, MI on May 26, 2010
Ignition switch will not turn. The switch is located on dash rather than steering column. It has a cable on the back & two wire connections on side. How do you remove & replace? I am assuming the lock cylinder is bad.

I had a similar problem. See if you can have a locksmith make you a new key. In my case the locksmith had to make the keys peaks more pronounced. Apparently it wears them down if too much weight is on the keychain and it sways as you drive and grinds the metal down.
