Ignition relay or lock cylinder problem?

How can I tell if my prob lies with the electrical relay or the actual lock cylinder?

You need to split them apart and then test them. I have seen lots of problems on F-series trucks with tilt wheels The mechanism wears out and wreaks havoc with the operation of the Ignition Switch et al.
