I was driving down the freeway i got off the exit and when i was sitting at the light my car was smoking from under the hood near the firewall it wasnt overheating so i shut the car off then when i went to start it again it would start but not turnover

Could be possible coolant hose leaking on to exhaust causing smoke, and if coolant level is low due to leak it will cause overheating, recommend to have cooling system tested for possible leaks.
