I recently had a Pcode repair -( evap emissions vent solenoid) on my gmc 1500

(2006 GMC Sierra 1500)
in Nashville, TN on May 25, 2013
the casister vent solenoid and the vent valve was replaced. I now have a non-working gas gage, could this have been affected by the replacement of the eev solenoid? Repair shop now states I need to replace the fuel pump for approx $900. There was no problem with the gage until after this repair. Please advise

I would check for a bad ground at the sending unit and check for power if you have both then you will probably need a sending unit

Interesting, The shop I had the repair done at and who told me I needed a new fuel pump never mentioned anything about the sending unit being a possible issue. Thank you.
