I have the very same problem in my wife's Caddy. There is a sensor under the dashboard on the passenger side which controlls positioning of the air vents. There is a connecting rod to the sensor which is probably broken. The rod in two pieces which have a plastic connector. Due to heat and wear, the connectors break and they are difficult and expensive to replace as the entire dashboard needs to be removed to fix the problem. I was told the the repair could cost up to $2,000. However, I was also told, in private that there might be someone who knows how to replace the part without removing the dash. If you find someone, please let me know!
