NAW,if you go to Firestone, you gotta have DEEP pockets! Done heard all their BS many times! I would find a good, trusted, local, independent repair shop and stick with them.Ask your friends,family,co-workers where they go,and try and steer clear from Firestone, they will eat you alive! Also you can look at the top of this page and click on Find a Shop, fill in info, see the shops in your area....

Thank you! You saved me some money! I went to three auto shops on Sunday no one wanted to work on my SUV - I just did a oil with Jiffy lube last week they full it up with antifreeze. they check it out said no antifreeze than they did a cooler system flush and I started get some heat on my way home Sunday. I have not had heat in my car for about 2 years or more.

call my neighbor across the street last night about my experience with my truck and he came over said what are the symptoms and he said from what you are telling me it sound like the HEATER CORE -BINGO - he check my SUV out at night time he loves working on cars. this morning he came back over and he took out the glove department to see if my fan resistors motor and fuse were still good for my heater and air conditioner - said everything is working accept for the BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR, once fixed the heater and air conditioner will work again (WHAT). I asked him is that going to stop the leaking of antifreeze he said know but wants to try that first because it all works together in a way. He wants to see how or if it affect my heater core in a positive way with the air conditioner and heater working.

You will not have heat unless the coolant/antifreeze is FULL at all times! Ok, another word of caution, don't go to Jiffy Lube either! Not long ago they were caught by a local news station charging folks for work that was never done. The news station mounted hidden cameras all over and under their vehicles and Jiffy Lube charged them a 100's of dollars for work not done, video footage does not lie,and also the news people had marked all the parts that Jiffy Lube was supposed to replace, but NOT EVEN ONE was replaced! Glad your neighbor is helping you with your Heat/Air.You really need to find the coolant/antifreeze leak first. Most of the time if a heater core is bad,it will leak coolant inside the vehicle on the passenger side floor and your windshield/windows will fog up and you can smell it,not leaking on the outside unless a hose is split/cut/dry rotted. If your blower motor is not blowing air, check blower motor fuse/relay then if they are good, check for power at the blower motor connector. If the resistor is bad, normally the blower will work on hi only and sometimes one other speed also. The resistor is what controls the different speeds of the blower motor.Once the neighbor finds out which one or if both are bad, check out rockauto.com for the best prices (about 1/2 the price of local rip off parts stores). see the 2 links below, compare prices, same exact part, same exact part number, manufactured by same exact company!

Thanks! Sorry I didn't see your comments until tonight. I could of used this information earlier when he was trouble shooting the engine light. He came over to replace the Resistor that he purchase from pick and pull but it didn't work might be a bad one. Although I'm getting a little heat through the vents now but it has to be on high, before I wasn't getting heat. Still no forcible air. Also, my engine light came on a couple days ago, my neighbor used his diagnostics machine and received a code 0480 fan 1 control circuit malfunctioning - do you know if this could cause the antifreeze to link out? Please response to both problem and I will let him know. I was caring for my mom with COPD for 11 1/2 she lived with me. she passed away Nov. 27, 2018. I did 24 hr care for 6 1/2 yr when she want on oxygen. So now I need a working car to commute from jobs like asap. Thank you so much!

There are many possibilities here from what you are stating. copy and paste the link below for description of the code and possible causes. Unless your neighbor has a scan tool,he can only guess at what is wrong. An OBDll code reader is not going to help with this,it only reads an engine code and that's it, it's only a starting point and will not tell you to replace any part on a vehicle.
