maybe, just maybe, the ignition switch actuator/rod is out of adjustment or broken. or,has someone re-wired that solenoid wrong under the hood? did someone hook the starter cable and one of the battery cables to the same terminal on the solenoid under the hood? if someone did, it will cause the starter to continually run! post findings.

Water leak from top left corner getting into the fuse box.push outward on the windshield and you'll probably see it move

that is a problem on some of these trucks also, but not all of them.i have a 2000 F150 Supercab 4.6L with 313,000 miles on it.i just replaced the original factory fuel pump last had the date stamped on the pump motor,7-24-2000>went over 300,000 and 15 years!!!water leaks there and down to the GEM Module through the windshield seal and shorts out the can usually spot that when you remove the lower panel covers,it will be rusted pretty bad on the metal and usually causes more problems! what i stated in my first reply is what happened, because they never replied back!!! that's the only way the starter will continually run, unless the rod is bent/broken/out of sync from the key switch to the ignition switch on the lower column.

I had the same problem on my 1999 .It had burned two starters. I changed the ignition switch but it happen again. But it has been awhile since it did. So I don't believe anyone rewired anything unless they did mine also. It's just another one of joys of owning a Ford. If it happens again try changing your cylinder switch.
