I have a 1987 Ford Ranger, 2.3l 5spd 2wd. Having Fuel pump issues...;.

Ok so the fuel pump stopped working on my truck. The mechanic said it was the relay connector, and got one of an 86 E150 Van. Well, after that we had no luck. We still had to replace the fuel pump. After getting the right fuel pump, it would not prime itself with the key on. You have to twist the relay wires together ( where he spliced them) in order to get the fuel pump to kick in, but it does not turn off. How do I get the fuel pump back to factory settings where it turns on with key then cuts off????

had similar problem. so i ordered me a 255 lph in tank pump from summit racing for a lt1 firebird because basically all in tank pumps are the same except for the output and pressure. this pump also put out 60 psi. I put it in ran new hose lines plus a good inline filter--no more problems--just wish i'd done it a long time ago.
