I cant charge my truck if i hook a battery to my truck it will die instantly.

(1990 Chevrolet 1500 Pickup)

my power steering belt broke. and as i was pulling in my driveway the battery died. when i tryed to charge it with another vehicle the jumper cables would get hot and the alternator gauge would go crazy. my 89 c1500 will not take any kind of power at all. i need help ive tryed getting a new alternator and a new battery still nothing

Make sure polarity is correct and check for shorted positive battery/alternator lead.

Positive to positive.... Negative to negative when connecting battery or jumper cables!!!

when i slow charge my battery then hook it to my truck. as soon as i connect the battery it will spark on big time then the battery will be dead. i have checked all my grounds and all the wiring from the battery and alternater seem to be fine.

You possibly charged the battery in reverse polarity (hooked up backwards).. .. Battery may be shorted internally.

i hooked my battery to my buddys truck and it seemed to work fine i dont think the battery seems to be the problem any other suggestions or is that the only two possible problems

Forget about the GROUND cable!!... Start at the battery and follow the positive cable all the way down to the starter to see if it's touching a metal surface somewhere! It should show sign of melted insulation at some point... Good luck, you may need some hands-on help!!

i found a small nick on the positive wire from the battery to the junction block. and a nick on a wire that connects to the distributer. but it wasnt touching any metal imoved it and its still doin the same th
