I am trying to replace carier bearing in the rear end and can't get the axle out

(1997 Chevrolet S10)

the 8mm bolt in the spiders houseing? is that the pin that go's through the spiders

There is one bolt that goes throught the pin and i do believe it is a 5/16" or 8mm. Remove that screw and the pin will slide out. Once the pin is out push each axle in towrds diff and the c-clip will fall out from each side. the c-clip is on the axle itself in case it doesnt fall. Once the c-clip is removed pull the axle out trying not to drag it on the axle seal otherwise damage will occure and you will be removing the axle again to replace the seal. If you are replacing the pinion bearing be sure to torque it to the correct spec otherwise you will be replacing the bearings sooner then you think.
