Thank goodness the Passet is repaired and runs fine. VW Dealer says he thinks the Tire Store that replaced the tires and chg the syn oil...pulled the wrong plug and drained 1/2 the transmission fluid. JUST BEFORE A 200 MILE TRIP. I am lucky it doesn't need a new transmission. The bill was $4900 for all the little things they did to get it running smoothly again including new electronic thermostat and oxygen sensor, etc. Thanks for responding so fast. He also said that he has only seen one case of a new trans. in a VW Passet in the past 10 yrs, so why he gave me worst case in the beginning is still a mystery.
